April 2007

Finally its over, thanks to Team India that I was able to save my approximately 80 hours and may be many more hours that i would have devoted in reading articles and pondering over world cup stats and all. Well before world cup started I though that I will be writing one article per Indian match, but after first loss I thought that I will write only if there is a good match and our team of super stars din’t gave me a chance to write anything. World Cup was a night mare for Indian Cricket and Pakistan Cricket, and as a true cricket expectorator (not fan of Indian Cricket ) one should also feel bad for big event like World Cup. To give you a clue, Pakistan beaten South Africa in warm-up match, SA was #1 or #2 team around that time and probably the second best team in all - i think no second doubts on that. On other hand, India got beaten by two teams only - Bangladesh (well its a team who have beaten convincingly #1 Team (South Africa)) and SriLanka (Well they missed world cup most closely). So all in all I will say, although performance wasn;t upto the mark from both teams India and Pakistan, but still  one can blame a bit on format of World Cup. Inclusion of Ireland and Bangladesh in Super Eight, caused 95% chances of 10 matches  in second stage of World Cup going one sided - this is something no one wants. Although Bangladesh impressed everyone with there triumph over South Africa, but I still feel that “Minos” just should get into the second stage of such a big event - its a spoiler.

Just before semifinals technically there was 50% chances that we will be able to see a new team lifting the World Cup. But as everyone knew that there is only 5% chances that anyone other than Aussies would be able to do the task.

Well well well, from next World Cup may be Aussies should get a World Cup before World Cup starts and rest of teams will play a freaking two months tournament for second place. That will simplify things for ICC and everyone else. As someone said for Aussies.. world is not enuf.
